What to Eat Series

Whenever I present my system to a new person, it never includes what to eat. I know, a dietitian doing a nutrition consult and we really don’t talk food at first. That’s because change starts with you, not some new recipe. That being said, it’s helpful to learn how to tweak foods you already eat to fit the system, and find new recipes that work.

Expectations of Nutrition Coaching

When I tell people I do nutrition coaching, they usually smile and nod. They really don’t know what it means. This is because it is a newer, yet more effective way of helping you improve. To some, it sounds like I sit there with a whistle and make you do pushups for every piece of candy you eat. The truth is I love pushups AND candy (Ok, candy more than pushups).

What is a meal supposed to look like?

How much protein do you need to eat? Is pork healthy or is chicken better?

These questions miss the point. Don’t focus on better vs worse, healthy vs unhealthy. Instead, start listening to your body about what keeps you full, feeling good, and loving food. Loving food, by the way, is one of the biggest factors of being successful. Too often I get people who dieted their way into disliking food. They become content with that fact that food needs to be bland to be considered healthy.
